Award winning region

The Highlands and Islands region has featured in several awards in recent weeks.

Five directors from the region were named in the IoD Director of the Year Awards.

Alasdair Ferguson, Group Managing Director of Ferguson Transport & Shipping, won the HIE-sponsored Regional Director of the Year. Highly commended was Mark Tait Managing & Production Director of Shetland Mussels Ltd.

Medium sized business Director of the Year award went to Jennifer MacKenzie-Hallwood, Managing Director of Dingwall-based TEFL Org UK. Small business Director of the Year was Tom Campbell, chief executive of North Highland Initiative, while Inverness based Natalie Agnew of Muckle Media was highly commended.

At the HSBC Scottish Export Awards Wester Ross Fisheries Ltd was highly commended in the small exporter of the year category.

Made in Scotland, a consortium of businesses from across the region, won a share of the £60,000 Collaboration Prize, delivered by Co-operative Development Scotland on behalf of HIE and Scottish Enterprise. 

And in the Scottish Civic Trust Awards the Isle of Harris Distillery won the Chairman's Award and HIE development, Inverness Campus, was highly commended in the My Place awards.
