Businesses urged to do business in Benelux

Highlands and Islands businesses interested in exporting to Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg have an opportunity to access specialist information and advice at a free event in Eden Court in Inverness on 26 January.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in partnership with Scottish Development International (SDI) are arranging a market visit to the ‘Benelux’ region later this year.

The Inverness event will raise awareness of this planned visit as well as highlight opportunities for businesses in this fast growing market and provide information on routes to market.

Many companies in the region have already started exporting to the Benelux region and have gone on to become major international exporters.

Scott McKnockiter, HIE’s Project Manager for International Highlands and Islands at HIE, said: “The Benelux countries offer huge opportunities for Highlands and Islands based businesses in sectors such as food and drink, renewable energy and financial services to name but a few.

“With their proximity to the UK and other countries, they are excellent test markets for companies making their way into exporting. English is widely spoken in all three countries and the region provides access to the wider European market.”

The event’s programme will feature an overview of the Benelux market and what to expect by doing business in the region; highlight support available from HIE and SDI; offer one-to-one meetings with each of the speakers; and provide networking opportunities with like-minded senior business professionals.

Anyone interested in attending the event on Tuesday 26 January at Eden Court should contact the International Highlands and Islands team at HIE on 01463 244212 or
