Entrepreneur masterclasses

Entrepreneurs from across the Highlands and Islands are encouraged to attend new masterclasses to help scale up their businesses.

HIE is hosting the masterclasses as part of its Entrepreneurship Programme, and will help towards travel costs over £70 for those wishing to attend.

The first event is in Inverness on 28-29th August. Aimed at entrepreneurs and senior staff of companies with growth potential in the region, this will focus on strategic negotiations.

It will provide tools, tips and techniques to help attendees build rapport, trust, mutual understanding and lasting relationships through their negotiations. Attendees will be able to practice these tools while building their confidence in a supportive learning environment.

Negotiations expert, Derek Arden, will lead the highly interactive masterclass with support from Julia Dickson, director at Achieve Training. Guest speaker in the evening will be John Vine CBE, former chief constable and independent chief inspector of Borders and Immigration.

Future masterclasses in the series will focus on ‘structured steps in the entrepreneur’s journey’, ‘strategic marketing’ and ‘creating and maintaining a competitive advantage’.

Louise MacDonald, senior entrepreneurship manager at HIE, said: “The Highlands and Islands is increasingly recognised as a region of entrepreneurship and innovation. As the regional development agency, we are committed to supporting this trend.

“The upcoming masterclasses will support entrepreneurs in their ambitions to scale up their businesses, as well as provide some great networking opportunities. We very much look forward to welcoming attendees at the first event this month.”
