Two community groups looking to set up broadband networks have begun the search to find a supplier in a year that will see many projects supported by Community Broadband Scotland (CBS) go to procurement.

Balquhidder Community Broadband and Kyles Community Broadband CIC are both looking for a supplier to design, build and operate next-generation broadband infrastructure in a bid to bring transformational connectivity to their respective communities.

Balquhidder Community Broadband, located in Stirlingshire is hoping to bring next-generation broadband speeds to around 170 premises in their community whilst Kyles Community Broadband CIC is aiming to serve around 350 premises in the Kyle of Bute area.

These two projects are the first of many community broadband projects supported by CBS due to go out to procurement in 2017.
